Creative workshop. "Steel Legacy" was founded in 2004 in the city of Minsk, Belarus. Our team has accumulated years of experience in decorative metal work and creation of armours and weapons. For many years our armourers have actively participated in historical-military clubs and have learned first hand all of the aspects of manufacturing, appearance, and practical weapon usage. This rich experience and knowledge base helps achieve maximum historical resemblance of all manufactured items.
While the use of a broad information base, pictures, and descriptions of armours and weapons allows for a precise representation of all external and structural details, the exclusive handicraft gives each item its unique, one of a kind feel.
The advanced technological level of metal work, the application of various metal working and decoration techniques using both historical and modern methods, provides an excellent opportunity to recreate the masterpieces of ancient armourers with the highest quality possible. This is accompanied by a careful artistic approach to each item created. Among the things being evaluated are not only the manufacturing quality, but also the design, style, and form of the real historical analogue. Key attention is given to the appearance of the item and its conformity to the artistic and cultural traditions in arts and crafts of the corresponding time period.
Each product manufactured in our workshop is created not only by experienced metal craftsmen, but also by an artist and a sculptor!
Achievements
The workshop created numerous interesting and high-grade products for admirers of historical military reconstructions and private collectors in Belarus and CIS countries. We participated in specialized exhibitions, worked on exposition of Mir and Nesvizh castles as well as Belarusian National Art Museum. Historians and art critics admit high level of our works and their conformity to historical models.

I. We offer.
• Manufacturing of armors of different ages and regions.
• Precise reconstruction of “in-use” armors in accordance with historical patterns (with the use of high-strength steel, if necessary) for participants of historical military movements (Living history).
• Replicas of historical armors for museum expositions and collections (with the use of metal and leather aging technique).
• Fantasy-style armors, with the use of various materials and techniques.
• Decorative armor as indoor ornaments (for lobbies, restaurants, country mansions, castles).
II. Materials.
For armors and ornamentals manufacturing we use the following metals:
• Steel St3 cold-rolled and hot-rolled 1, 1.2, 1.5, 2mm thick;
• Steel 65G 1, 1.2, 1.5, 2mm thick;
• Brass L62 0.5, 0.8, 1, 1.2, 1.5, 2mm thick;
In case of use of Steel 65G, hardening of different levels is possible.
III. Armors finishing.
In the process of armor manufacturing different methods of its finishing can be applied:
• dressing;
• polishing;
• artificial aging;
• blacking.
To adorn the armor we use:
• patterns pickling;
• patterns pillaring (perforation);
• fullering;
• gold-plating.
IV. Work with the client.
Before starting to manufacture the armor we carry out thorough preparatory work:
1. The work begins with selection of a specific kind of armor on the basis of historical patterns or client’s stylized design.
2. We discuss design of all the elements on the armor with selection of original pictures and on-the-spot execution of drafts and rough sketches.
3. We agree upon the thickness of each element as well as the type of steel and its strength (in case of tempering).
4. We take the client’s measure if the armor is made especially for him (in-use armor).
5. We define terms of manufacturing and price for the armor.
6. Before commencing the armor we draw the client’s body full-face and side-face in actual size. This is the base that we draw (put) the agreed upon armor to fit all its elements and design details to the body shape.
7. As soon as the draft is finished it is shown to the client to make it visible for him how the desired armor looks on his body. If necessary, we make corrective amendments.
8. And only then we start manufacturing the armor!
9. When the rough variant of the armor is ready we seek possibility to try it on the client for perfect fitting.
